Odisha beat host Jharkhand by two wickets to register their second win in East Zone Inter-State U-19 Women One-day League at Dhanbad today. Captain Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan once again played major role in the hard-fought win, which fetched them four points.
Chasing 135 for victory, Odisha tottered at five for 27 before a 70-ball 39 by Sushree enabled Odisha overhaul the target in 49 overs. Two sizeable partnerships, involving Sushree, helped Odisha a lot. Sushree first compiled 44 runs for the sixth wicket with Sumitra Sahoo and then added another 38 for the eighth wicket with Indrani Chhatria.
Sumitra, Indrani and opener Sasmita Mahalik made useful contributions of 28, 23 not out and 22. Indrani put on precious 25 runs in the unfinished ninth-wicket stand with D Janaki Reddy to cap the win.
Earlier put into bat, Jharkhand were bowled out for 134 in 43.5 overs. Sarojini Giri was most successful Odisha bowler with three wickets for 23 runs. Anjali Singh scalped a brace.
